Philanthropy

“What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us; what we have done for others and the world remains and is immortal."

― Albert Pike

The vision for our practice is to: “Empower Through Beauty, One Person at a Time”. Part of this vision is giving back and supporting philanthropic activities. The focus of our philanthropic activities have been:

  • Volunteer Medical Work
  • Medical Research
  • Initiatives to End Violence Against Women

Dr. Hirmand has donated a significant amount of time to volunteer work in both her community and abroad. For three years, Dr. Hirmand worked with the NYU-Downtown plastic surgery clinic donating treatments focused on reconstructive surgery. She was invited to Mexico on reconstructive missions as part of the National Health Development Project of the Government of Mexico.

She served as a Chairperson of the Health Committee of the National Council of Women. Dr. Hirmand has been a member of Physicians for Human Rights and trained as a volunteer physician for the Human Rights Clinic Program of Doctors of the World.

Dr. Hirmand served as a Vice President of the Executive Committee of Women for Women Plastic Surgery Aid program of the International Confederation for Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery (IPRAS). Spearheaded in 2007, this charitable program addresses the growing issue of women’s health by supplying services by international female surgeons for female patients in developing countries.

Our practice has donated in support of medical research focused on breast cancer, to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Dr. Hirmand is also an annual supporter of the Meals-on-Wheels charitable program in NYC to feed the indigent and elderly.

Philanthropy has been an integral part of Dr. Hirmand’s practice and she continues to contribute to a number of organizations in support of their work, including The International Women’s Health Coalition.
